PRESS RELEASE: APRIL 2007

DANTONE SETS ITS SITES ON GROWTH IN BARNSLEY

After almost 40 years in the engineering industry, Ray Bennett decided to set up his own precision engineering business and chose Barnsley as the perfect location. Although he lives in North Yorkshire, Ray recognised that Barnsley offered major opportunities for the growth of his business Dantone Precision Engineering.

Barnsley Development Agency helped the new company find suitable premises by providing details of industrial units on a number of local businesses parks. Business Link South Yorkshire also worked with Dantone Precision Engineering to secure a Department of Trade & Industry grant and will provide ongoing business support and advice.

Wharncliffe Business Park, close to the well established Carlton Industrial Estate, with its high specification of light industrial units was perfect for the new premises and Ray and his staff became occupants of a 4.000 sq ft unit.

Stuart Towers from Barnsley Development Agency, who helped Dantone Precision Engineering to find suitable premises, explains: “Dantone had looked at many industrial units within South Yorkshire but was impressed with the convenient location and excellent facilities offered at Wharncliffe Business Park. These units have been really popular since their release and the development is now almost fully occupied. Commercial developments like Wharncliffe have really put Barnsley on the map in terms of offering some of the highest specification and best located units in the region."

“We were looking for somewhere with both office and engineering facilities,” explains Ray Bennett, Managing Director of Dantone Precision Engineering. “Wharncliffe was ideal because it gave the business a professional image and offers easy access for our staff and customers. We have made a significant investment in equipment that means we can provide precision engineering services to regional and national companies in the oil, gas and energy industries. It’s a specialist area, but we are an experienced team with lots of contacts and I’m optimistic about what the future holds!”

Andrew Ainsworth from Barnsley Development Agency adds: “It is great news that Barnsley is attracting so many regional and national businesses – and we can offer all the help and support they need to make the process as simple and straightforward as possible.”

Part of Barnsley MBC, Barnsley Development Agency’s Investment & Development Team offers existing Barnsley businesses and organisations relocating to the area a friendly and professional service, free of charge.

Wharncliffe Business Park has been developed by Priority Sites and is being marketed by agent Chris Rowlands & Co.
