Barnsley’s latest office and industrial development Longfields Court, Middlewoods Way, Wharncliffe Business Park , Carlton, Barnsley was launched on 26th September 2008 with the worshipful Mayor and Mayoress and the former international umpire Harold ‘Dickie’ Bird MBE in attendance.

LONGFIELDS COURT: BUCKING THE TREND

In these challenging times for business and property it is encouraging to report on the Longfields Court success story.

Longfields Court is a workshop, business unit and office development within the Wharncliffe Business Park at Carlton. The development was completed in July 2008 and provides a range of small workshops from 344 sq ft to 2,958 sq ft as well as office suites from a single work station of 75 sq.ft up to 16,223 sq.ft of first class office accommodation over three floors.

The operators, DBH Serviced Business Centres Ltd. with a range of similar centres throughout the UK, have perfected a model whereby space can be occupied for almost any period from as little as an hour to several years.

Licence fees are “All inclusive”, so that they cover rates, insurance, standing charges for the utility providers, cleaning, waste disposal and car parking.  DBH even provide a reception service whereby phone calls can be answered in your company name,    giving a great impression to your clients.

DBH’s Managing Director, Piers Goodall stated that “We are very pleased with the interest in our recent development.  It appears that customers like the flexibility we are able to offer, especially in these testing economic times.  Our customers benefit from the ability to grow or contract, they know exactly what their property costs are from the outset and enjoy a friendly, good quality professional service from the moment that they arrive.”

Interest in the development has been huge with a significant number of agreements in place before the development was completed. Early occupiers include European Inkjet, Adrenalin Scooter Performance Parts, Baron Blakeslee-Europe, Discount Clothing Company, Highways Engineering, CRG Sports, Trust Home Care and Home Asset Property Services.

Chris Rowlands from letting agents Chris Rowlands & Co. says “Longfields Court is an innovative property development scheme for Barnsley which throws away the traditional landlord and tenant relationship in favour of a system where the occupier’s business budgeting, cost considerations and flexibility are paramount. The success of the development so far is testimony to this particularly in today’s difficult trading climate”.

Jon Swain from joint agents Mason & Partners says “My clients, DBH Serviced Business Centres Limited are delighted with the occupier interest in Longfields Court. The number of deals committed at such an early stage is testament to what is virtually a unique product for the local market”

Andrew Ainsworth from Barnsley Development Agency says “We are delighted that Longfields is bringing new job opportunities to the area and stimulating inward investment, and we will continue to work with DBH to identify potential occupiers.”
